Isaac Bowden

Hi, I’m Isaac Bowden,

owner of Bowden Carpentry & Woodworks.

Nanaimo, BC, is where I call home, and just south of here in Ladysmith is where I grew up and began working in the trades. I started as a flooring installer and then switched to carpentry. After receiving my Red Seal in Carpentry at Camosun College in Victoria, BC, and working in the trade for a while, I noticed my true enjoyment came from collaboration with colleagues and clients. I enjoy sitting down with customers to understand their needs and vision. I prioritize working closely with people, drafting ideas to build comfortable beautiful spaces to call home. Being a local business owner allows me to build a strong sense of community and trust here in Nanaimo within the trades. Our intention is also to help our neighbours see the potential in their homes, by creating a connection to outdoor living and finding satisfaction in investing in themselves and their homes. What drives me and my company is not just our craftsmanship; it’s about enhancing the way people experience and enjoy their homes through long-lasting techniques in building, sustainable practices, and encouraging everyone in the company to treat each customer’s home like their own.

We had a great experience with Isaac. He general contracted our basement renovation and we are very happy with the end result. He took care of most of the work himself, but called in other trades as needed. As often happens, the scope of the work increased once we started but Isaac was able to take it all on. We also appreciated if there were little detail things that we wanted, he didn’t mind working on them as well. He was a pleasure to have in our house and communication was always open and easy.

We had some water damage that caused a horrible smell in our master bathroom. We also wanted to alter a closet to create more space. Isaac was very creative in how to create an effective space in our walk-in closet as well as facilitate all of the trades necessary to create the perfect bathroom for us. He was very accommodating to some very specific needs. Some contractors are not always accommodating or even nice. Isaac was friendly, approachable, and kind. The renos were done during the pandemic and we found Isaac to be very respectful and always wore a mask in our home. Thanks again, Isaac.
